Stations of a modern Way of the Cross and chamber organ

 

The Stations of the Cross by painter Dezső Váli are displayed on the walls of the Student Chapel of the Pannonhalma Benedictine Secondary School. Each station invites visitors to pause and reflect: alongside the accompanying text, the symbolic imagery offers multiple possibilities for personal interpretation. During the programme, participants are invited to bring the symbols of the Stations of the Cross into dialogue with their own lives. The atmosphere of contemplation is enhanced by the sound of the chapel's chamber organ, a gift from the Hungarian community of Stockholm to the school. This spiritual programme, connected to the school's Year of the School theme, reflects one of the central pillars of Benedictine education at Pannonhalma: the arts. Rooted in the values of the Church's tradition, the arts foster creativity and personal growth while serving the good of the community. The programme offers an opportunity to reflect on the burdens we carry, the encounters that shape our lives, and the possible meaning of suffering. The Stations of the Cross are explored through three thematic perspectives, each accompanied by thought-provoking reflections and organ music.
